Laura Fergusson Brain Injury Trust is now an accredited CareWise employer

CEO, Kathryn Jones, and Human Resources Manager, Alison Klopper, with our accreditation from carers NZ CEO, Laurie Hilsgen

The Laura Fergusson Brain Injury Trust has recently embarked on a journey to become an accredited CareWise employer. We were delighted to receive our accreditation from Carers NZ CEO, Laurie Hilsgen.

The CareWise organisation was developed by national non-profit Carers NZ to help carers continue working, and to help employers understand and retain staff with caring responsibilities. One in eight employees across New Zealand juggle between work and care for family who are frail, unwell or has a chronic condition or disability. Nearly 90% of the 490,000+ carers in New Zealand are of workforce age.

Due to a lack of support or awareness from employers, carers may feel that they have to give up work or reduce working hours. Through CareWise, employers gain the tools they require to support caring staff.

Jasmine Harris, our Marketing and Communications Manager, is one of our carers at Laura Fergusson Brain Injury Trust. “I have a child with special needs and Laura Fergusson Brain Injury Trust has always been incredibly flexible with me ducking in and out of the office for appointments.”

Laura Fergusson Brain Injury Trust recognize that there are many carers within our organisation. We look to erase additional problems and stress by being as supportive and understanding as possible.
