The dizziness clinic at Laura Fergusson Brain Injury Trust
Our dizziness clinic is a physiotherapy-run service providing assessment and treatment for individuals experiencing dizziness. You will be seen by a specialist trained vestibular physiotherapist.
Our assessment involves collecting a detailed history, followed by an assessment of your vision, vestibular system (inner ear) and your proprioceptive system (muscles and joints) to determine the cause of your dizziness. Video lenses, which record eye movements, are also often used during assessment to clarify the cause of your dizziness.
Following the assessment, if your physiotherapist determines you would benefit from vestibular rehabilitation, he or she will support you with a customised exercise program to address any problematic areas identified. Exercise can be geared towards re-training your balance, helping the brain resolve differences in the signals from your inner ears, or improving your ability to visually focus.
Our dizziness clinic is an outpatient service located in Christchurch, however we are able to arrange home visits if required.
