Housing modifications

Following an injury, modifications to a person’s home may be required to increase their independence. A skilled occupational therapist in our team will assess the person’s environment and injury-related needs.

Our assessor will work with the client, their family/whānau and support people to ensure the environment will increase independence, promote health, and prevent further decline or injury.

Depending on the needs of our clients, we can make the following recommendations:

  • Installing handrails and access ramps
  • Widening doorways
  • Installing low-rise lifts
  • Adapting kitchens, bathrooms or laundries
